For many people, the priest is the person who tells people how to regulate their lives. This often seems to mean sex. Abortion and homosexuality are aspects of this. Abortion becomes a way of regulating women's sexuality, and restrictions on homosexuality is a way of regulating men. I think this is irrelevant to the priest's modern vocation.
Perhaps a better focus for priests would be about how we handle money. Scripture is more concerned about money than sex. As Mark Taylor notes, money has a divine quality. Perhaps Commissions of Ministry should be more intent on doing background checks on priests regarding money; and should encourage priests to study financial health.
I am, however, speaking without authority. I'm not very good with money, but would like to be. I spend far too much on frivolous things. Still, I'm getting better at saving. Small steps....

Then how does one regulate
Then how does one regulate the lesbians who aren't men and who don't need abortions?
