Wonderful service yesterday. Bob Arthur's band was phenomenal. The baby is not condemned to limbo for eternity: Catherine Flora Leon. She was saved to New Orleans Jazz.
Who do you prefer: Sibelius or Stravinsky?
What would have happened if Tchaikovsky had studied Jazz?
A very good wine: the guilty
A not so good wine: Les Heretiques. Actually a very rustic, traditional wine from France.
Protesting Lawyers in Pakistan? Reminds me of the investment bankers in Korea who once threatened to unionize (in 1997). Interesting.
I'm looking forward to Heroes this evening. I don't watch TV very often, but I do love that show.
The diocese of Pittsburgh is threatening to leave the Episcopal Church I have a couple thoughts:
1) it doesn't need to be this way. The diocese of Pittsburgh does not need to bless gay marriages, appoint gay clergy or invite Gene into their diocese. It is a theology based strictly on the pollution of other people. Our polity is one of invitation. New York is liberal. Pittsburgh conservative. The presiding bishop can send a conservative bishop in her place.
2) These alternative denominations will find Duncan a difficult leader. He is an authoritarian of the highest order. Granted, sometimes movements need that. He is definitely grandiose in his view of himself. Plagarizing Luther is no way to impress this priest.
3) We should continue to be charitable and magnanimous while declaring the see of Pittsburgh vacant after next year. We should publicly declare that we will take care of their clergy, no matter what their personal views are. Our pan-Anglican agencies can continue to work with them.
