Dear Folks,

Of course, the caller may have simply have stumbled or stuttered over "Bart ... Bartholomew"! But the result is funny!

I just came across this posting, and I may be able to solve the mystery of the call. Last February (2007) an old friend I hadn't seen in 30 years searched me out by means of the internet and, finally, a phone call to me. At the most recent reckoning, I believe I have not yet achieved Sainthood, either in your diocese or mine, so that title, as my friend, who knew me well, might have recognized, is at best premature. When he finally reached me, he said that he had made cold calls to eight or nine likely phone numbers before he hit pay dirt. Perhaps one of those calls landed at Father Gawain's desk!

All best and very happy holidays!
Noyes Bartholomew (aka "Bart")
